The ATO requires you to directly appoint your tax agent through their secure online system — we can't do this step for you. The process takes about 10 minutes and only needs to be done once. These instructions will walk you through every click.
1
Set Up myGovID
Your secure digital identity to access government services
Already have myGovID? Skip ahead to Step 2. You can check by opening the myGovID app on your phone — if you can log in, you're set.
1
Download the myGovID app on your smartphone. Search "myGovID" in the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). It's a free Australian Government app.
2
Open the app and tap Set up myGovID. Enter your full name, date of birth, and email address exactly as they appear on your identity documents.
3
Verify your identity by entering details from two Australian identity documents — for example, your driver's licence and Medicare card, or passport. This unlocks a Standard or Strong identity strength, which is required to access business services.
4
Follow the prompts to set up your 4-digit PIN or face ID. Once confirmed, your myGovID is active.
You must achieve a Standard or Strong identity strength to proceed. Basic strength (email only) won't give you access to the ATO Business Portal.
2
Link Your ABN in RAM
Relationship Authorisation Manager — connects your identity to your business
Already linked your ABN? If you've previously accessed the ATO Business Portal, your ABN is already linked — skip to Step 3.
1
Open your browser and go to ram.gov.au. Click Login with myGovID and open the myGovID app on your phone to approve the login.
2
If you're a sole trader: on the RAM home page, click Link my business, then enter your ABN and follow the prompts.
3
If you're a company, trust, or partnership: click Link my business, enter your ABN, and verify using your Australian Business Register details (this may require confirming your registered business address).
4
Once linked, you'll see your business appear on the RAM dashboard with your name listed as the Principal Authority or an Authorised User.
RAM is separate from myGov. It's specifically for business — don't confuse it with your personal myGov account.
3
Log In to ATO Online Services for Business
The ATO's main portal for managing your tax affairs
1
Go to business.ato.gov.au (or search "ATO Online Services for Business").
2
Click Login at the top right, then select Login with myGovID.
3
Enter your myGovID email address in the field shown on screen. Open the myGovID app on your phone — you'll receive a 4-digit code. Enter it in the app to approve the login.
4
If you have multiple businesses linked in RAM, select the correct business (ABN) from the list shown after login.
4
Navigate to Tax Agent and Add Us
Locate the tax agent section and enter our registration details
1
Once logged in, look for the Manage menu in the top navigation bar and click it.
2
Click Tax agents and BAS agents from the dropdown menu.
3
Click the Add button (or "Add a tax agent").
4
You'll be asked to enter our Tax Agent Registration Number (TARN). Enter the details below exactly as shown:
Agent Name
Bunya Advisory Pty Ltd
Tax Agent No.
26291615
ABN
96 676 134 375
5
Once you enter our TARN, our firm name should appear automatically. Confirm this matches Bunya Advisory Pty Ltd before proceeding.
Double-check the agent name before confirming. Do not appoint an agent you don't recognise.
5
Confirm the Appointment
Review the access permissions and submit
1
Review the access level being granted. The ATO will show you what the agent will be able to view and action on your behalf. This typically includes lodgement history, account balance, and the ability to correspond with the ATO.
2
Tick any required confirmation checkboxes — these confirm you understand you are granting access to a registered tax agent.
3
Click Confirm or Submit. You may receive a confirmation screen or email from the ATO.
4
Let us know you're done — send us a quick message or email so we can confirm access from our end and get started on your tax affairs.
That's it! The appointment typically takes effect immediately. You'll be able to see us listed under your tax agents the next time you log in.
You can revoke our access at any time by returning to the Tax agents and BAS agents section and clicking Remove.
